37.8x47.2 in ~ Painting, Acrylic
The first work as a painting on canvas; (I never painted on canvases before) . In the '80s, while I was a decorative painter (on walls) participating in the revival of South Beach, an inspired French customer (Saunders) asked me to also do a work on canvas for her. It was my very first painting, a joyful eruption of Art-Deco buildings in her freshly painted yellow living room.
After my mural about the demolition of Biscaya Hotel in March 1987, I painted in 1988 my first canvas picture ever, for a French women, Michelle Saunders, who commissioned me a scene of Art Deco Building irrupting joyfully in her bright yellow colored SoBe apartment. Interestingly, a few of the buildings are already been razed. The Anchor Hotel is now a parking lot for the Loews Hotel, The Revere was demolished by Gianni Versace to make room for his private swimming pool...
This image preludes other pieces where I've used the ceilings fans theme
"Pierre Marcel paints the inner mind, the emotions that haunt us and reward us, the passions and fears we cannot live with and certainly cannot live without. His talent is to express emotion through the architectural vagaries and thecoastal ambience of South Beach" Jim Tommaney, 1994
