RELATIONSHIPS So there, friends, no matter how hard I look, it's untranslatable in French: Relationships, it's a love relationship, not necessarily. Companionship, work, family, you can have a "relationship" with your banker, your dog, your lover, and I can only immerse myself with delight in this poem in English especially written by the author Jim Tommaney for my painting : They come in all shapes and sizes. Two are complex, three a muddle, one a solitary problem. They consume us like shooting stars. They burn us like ice. They flare with flame, leaving the taste of ashes. We want them to end, and to go on forever. No two are alike. And, on some days, they are all we have. Jim Tommaney, 1994 I started my career as an artist in Miami Beach in the early 90's by painting 100 paintings with matches! In France, 20 years later, I painted my famous "Life, Man is the sum of his acts" in candles and matches. (Burnt matches = deeds done, days passed but still good light from everyone. New matches = projects, future days... no need for flames in our lives. The sum of our deeds is our light.
